Just reading this novel “Kingdom Come” by the late JG Ballard.
It’s really interesting. It’s set in the nowhere towns around London-Heathrow. The streets are populated by armies of England shirted yobs who occasionally torch mosques.
Hovering above this streets cape is a huge shopping mall or mega mall called The Metro Centre. When the father of sacked advertising executive Richard Pearson’s father is shot in the Metro Centre seemingly at random he has to leave his Chelsea loft get in his Jensen and hit the M25.
It’s part murder mystery part analysis of what has or could go wrong with the fabric of English society.
