my local cinema wants to be a “force for change”. But what exactly is “change” and doesn’t it specifically depend upon what direction, character and precise gear shift of change you are talking about. I am sure they don’t mean the reimposition of fascism over Europe but maybe they do mean the establishment of a Stalinist dictatorship (there is an oh so woke statue of Engels outside). I am being over the top but what does force of change actually mean. Is there some kind of Guardian reading tick box consensus of what needs changing. Is there never any contention about issues that need changing or is it just about that other vague epithet of “raising awareness”. My feeling is this cinema caters more to Labour voters than Conservative voters for example. Maybe just be a cinema and stop trying to be the workers revolutionary party?
