Le Guin, hyper-capitalism and dystopia…

Was reading Le Guin’s book of essays and blog posts “No Time to Spare”. She talks about possible alternatives to hyper capitalism. The only alternative she seems to come up with is ‘socialism’ and she admits that is flawed.

So what is the alternative/s? Another writer I know says “no more Utopias”. I’m tempted to agree. It’s a rocky road to Utopia. It feels like many experiments in socialism have just ended in mass murder.

So hyper capitalism is destroying us but the alternatives look possibly even worse. Can we find a way out of this mess?
